Scone Race Club posts strong financial turnaround, strengthening its position as NSW’s premier country racing destination.
After substantial losses in 2022/23 & 2023/24 ($721,331 & $817,827 respectively), the Scone Race Club (SRC) has delivered one of its strongest financial performances, presenting a $785,157 improvement to its bottom line to the recent Annual General Meeting. This marks a significant turnaround, which reinforces its ambition to remain the premier country racing venue in New South Wales.
A confident future and stronger community impact
SRC’s financial turnaround, combined with major NSW Government & Racing NSW infrastructure support, positions the Club as a leading destination for racing, training, and community events.
“The new polytrack enhances training safety, reduces weather disruptions, and provides a reliable, modern surface that trainers can use year-round. It strengthens horse welfare outcomes and improves consistency in training, which benefits the entire industry. This investment is a turning point for Scone and for country racing across the state.” said Chair Alister Fraser
As the only country club in New South Wales to host a Group 3 race, Scone continues to encourage leading trainers, owners, and racing talent from across Australia.
Scone Racing Carnival returning in 2026 with renewed investment
Planning has commenced for the 2026 two-day Scone Racing Carnival, featuring the renowned Darley Scone Cup, which will return with an increased budget and refreshed programming on
Friday 15 & Saturday 16 May 2026.
Mr. Fraser said the Club’s approach to the 2026 Carnival reflects the momentum building behind SRC’s broader strategy. “As the Scone Racing Carnival celebrates its 80th year in 2026, next year’s Carnival will feel worthy of its long-standing significance to our region. We have listened to feedback from our patrons and, wherever we can, have made changes. It is part of our ambition to continually improve.
“Some of those improvements include the return of Fashions on the Field, an increase in Tables & Chairs for all patrons, more male & female toilets, improved food and beverage offerings, prices fixed for the 3rd year in a row, and the return of the Hunter Belle trackside precinct.”
“Tickets will be available early February so please visit our website to join our mailing list,” Mr Fraser said.
Looking ahead
With strengthened financials, upgraded infrastructure and a clear strategy for growth, SRC is now entering one of the most optimistic periods in its history.
“Our goal is to continue as the premier country racing club in NSW. We must remain vigilant in our fiscal management and governance, but the progress we have made shows what can be achieved,” CEO Jason Hill said.
